Bouverie Mews
Bouverie Mews, Stoke Newington, London SW11
This is our most challenging project to date, as a result of the logistics of the site, and the exacting nature of the design.
This £2.0m new build project was designed by award winning architect Peter Culley for the renowned artist Rana Begum, to provide studio workspace, sculpture gallery, and living accommodation. In addition a separate lettable flat is included.
Outdoor space is provided by 2 roof terraces, and an open courtyard at entrance level.
The design is unique in that the shape and form of every space has been carefully crafted, with the main spaces living spaces with full height triple glazed panels taking advantage of the wall of green provided by the trees in the adjacent cemetery.
As a result of the otherwise landlocked site multiple rooflights bring natural light into the heart of the building.
The exterior cladding is larch, and every elevation is slightly angled, which in itself was a challenge to achieve.
The structure includes a reinforced concrete basement and ground floor frame with upper floors steel framed with concrete decks.
The floor finish throughout is polished concrete, complimented with resin floors in the wet areas.
